Just Shoot.

Since I started my journey in street photography I’ve dealt with a lot of ups and downs. Going into manhattans fine streets and trying to be best I could be would play a serious toll on me because of the fact that I never really understood what was right or wrong, whether if the picture was pleasing to the humans eye or if it wasn’t good enough to just call it quits. For the Longest I would compare myself to several photographers and told myself       “damn how can I take photos like that” or just simply discourage myself that I wouldn’t be able to be as good as them. Obviously that wasn’t the case. After my own discouragement I went on and kept shooting, didn’t matter what it was, or where it was, I just shot. After awhile I started seeing a pattern in my street photography; Street gut. Street gut is part of a saying from my all-time favorite photographer Bruce Gilden.

“I don’t care if you don’t like my pictures, it’s from my gut. I take these pictures because its from my gut”.

Everyone shoots with their own perception and shoots with their own reason. You must shoot what catches your eye instead of shooting what you think is right.
