Reaction Paper #1

Not that long ago Professor Cyr spoke his truth. When I say truth I mean his story, his background, his idea of what it means to be a photographer and he couldn't be any happier than he is in today's life. So let me explain a bit, during Professor Cyr’s presentation he explained to us that if you are interested in a certain career in photography and you get tired of it you can make your way to another career in photography. The fact that you're able to turn to something else with easy is crazy to me. But let me get on with this story, Professor John started photography at a small school called Connecticut College. He entered the as an art major and he was looking to see what best suited him. After his education he decided to take two photography classes, after these classes he forever changed his life. Professor John started get more and more involved into photography and getting more into the visual arts that photography brings to the table. To understand  more about photography he decided to do intensive research upon the career path. What professor Cyr decided to do was to focus his work on composition and one of his first bodies of work was textual composition (2001-2007). Not so long after he decided to move to Italy.
After moving back from Italy he seeked info so he went to Maine and at that time Maine was very well known in photography. Maine just loved photography. So at Maine as he was seeking info he was introduced to a workshop from there he got a college credit, and enter a school that I wish I remembered. BUT all professor John wanted to do was to just keep learning and he put his mind to it. After all this he partnered up with a photographer and took a job (printing) with him in new york  while working with the photographer he started from $18 then went up to $25 an hour. During this time ever since he started photography he strictly shot on film but in 2008 he decided to use a digital camera. He was accepted to MFA photo video SVA in NYC. during the year he did a project on digital named Gowanus, where he photographed the most polluted areas in Brooklyn.

Even though i was all over the place with this reaction paper i can confidently say that Professor Cyr has done good for himself and hope it keeps expanding for him. After listening to his story he secured my belief even more that if you put your mind to something anything is possible. The person that is ahead of the game will always become successful and that taking steps into the right direction can make a impact in your life.
